Many children and youth in our community live in unsafe neighborhoods,come home to empty apartments after school, have little or no supervision or mentoring and enjoy few enrichment activities. That’s why United Way’s goal of helping every child develop to his or her full potential is so crucial. By bringing the resources of our entire community together on behalf of these young people, we are making positive childhoods possible and changing the future of Houston for the better. United Way is creating a better future for children and youth with ground-breaking programs, after-school care, mentors, parenting classes, after-school activities and more. We’re giving our children and youth a better chance at success and the opportunity to realize their dreams.
What you should know:
When children have a good foundation of education and supervision, they have a much better chance of succeeding as adults. Every dollar spent in quality childhood education and care yields as much as $17 return to individuals and society.

Last year:
United Way touched the lives of more than 420,000 children and young people. • 83% of students in United Way programs were more successful in school.
