Theme: Yao Ming, Ping Pong, and I

Upon the completion of each section, students will be able to:

¡P        Understand classroom routines in Chinese and respond to classroom commands

¡P        Exchange essential information such as greetings and leave-takings

¡P        Exchange personal and family information while sharing family albums.

¡P        Learn Pin-Yin and four Chinese characteristic Mandarin tones. 

¡P        Count from 1 to 10,000.

¡P        Tell time, day, week days, month, year and currency.

¡P        Recognize 80 commonly used Chinese characters and practice writing by following the eight basic strokes rule of the Chinese Calligraphy.

¡P        Share likes and dislikes regarding various common objects and every day activities. Such as colors, food, pets, sports, games, fashions, movies, books, etc.

¡P        Use directional complements to ask and clarify direction.

¡P        Initiate, sustain, and close a conversation in a variety of real-life situations such as making introductions, expressing gratitude and regret, stating complaints and apologizing.

¡P        Talk about pictures of the 12 animals represented in Chinese Zodiac.

¡P        Point out the major cities and famous places in China on map.

¡P        Recite a Chinese pop song.

¡P        Play Chinese chess or ¡¥Go¡¦ games.

¡P        Use chopsticks and learn Chinese table etiquette.

¡P        In small groups, discuss, compare and contrast point of view on various culture subjects.

¡P        Practice Chinese Calligraphy and painting.

¡P        Execute Dragon Dance moves.

¡P        Play table tennis and basketball daily and participate the Chinese-In-Action Table Tennis Tournament.

         Participate in a Chinese cultural skit.
