After School Enrichment & Acculturation

To enhance the lives of young people and cultivate greater cultural understanding

Goals

  • Assist new immigrant youths in their transition into the community through tutoring, English enrichment, and other beneficial social group activities.
  • Provide students from low and moderate income families with quality after-school education and mentor guidance to improve academic performance.
  • Cultivate character and positive self-image through cultural programs, healthy social interaction, and encouragement.
  • Nurture parent-child relationships by presenting conferences, counseling, and parenting skills seminars.

This unique and culturally-relevant program serves young people ages 5 to 18 by offering:

  • Academic tutoring
  • Structured enrichment activities
  • Self-paced computer-aided learning
  • Sports and group activities
  • Scouting Fridays
  • Individual and group counseling
  • Acculturation workshops for new immigrant youth
  • Leadership development (student government organization)
  • TAAS preparation and English Enrichment Classes
  • Financial Literacy

Teachers, tutors, and volunteers assist children on a daily basis with school homework and other questions.  The program identifies the student's weak subjects and helps in those courses.  Classes are held one teacher to 10-15 students.
