“China is Beautiful” Exhibition
January 28 through February 11,
2006
In keeping with our mission, “to bridge East and West by
enriching families with educational, cultural, and social service
programs,” the Chinese Community Center is pleased to collaborate with
the Houston Chinese Photographic Society (HCPS) with a culturally
inviting exhibit. The “China is Beautiful” exhibit will be held at
CCC’s library from January 28th through February 11th.
Founded fifteen years ago, HCPS members hail from all
walks of life – many are successful and civic-minded professionals – but
all share a strong passion for the lens. Most of the members have
traveled the world and with exceptional photographic skills, capturing
the earth’s majestic beauty and revealing human compassion that is
evidently mankind’s universal heritage.
Using a play on words, phonetically, the word for “is”
also means “to know or to understand.” Thus, “China is Beautiful” in
its new context becomes “China knows or understands her beauty.” The
exhibit takes you on a visual journey, so that you can understand the
Chinese culture through the landscape, the people and their way of life.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. Exhibits are
available for individual sales, and HCPS will donate a portion of the
proceeds to fund CCC’s programs.
