Print Child Development Checklist

The Chinese Community Center has been caring for and educating young children ages 18-months through 5 years since November 1996 in their "Child Development Center." This program is licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services.

The Center believes that children learn through play-oriented curriculum as approved by the National Association of Young Children.  This facilitates a supportive environment for family and child.

The Child Development Center has incorporated a new emergent curriculum, the Spark Curriculum for Early Childhood. The Spark Curriculum is a literary-based creative arts curriculum in which young children learn developmental and school readiness skills by actively attending to stories and participating in activities based on each story. Spark is a child-centered curriculum in which children learn through hands-on, open-ended activities. Developmentally appropriate stories, with activities centered on the arts, have the potential to be highly interesting to most young children.

In addition to the childcare curriculum, the Child Development Center offers monthly meetings that provide information, community resources, and activities.

The Child Development Center offers age-specific classes taught by CDA certified teachers, year round. With great student to teacher ratios, space is limited in this enriching program. Tours of the program are offered to interested parents on an appointment-basis and registration is done on-site at the Chinese Community Center. For more information about this program and the certain scholarships available, please contact the Child Development Center Director at 713-271-6100 Ext. 220.

Creative Curriculum

The child development programs at All Aboard Learning Center and the CCC foster healthy social skills and stimulate learning in children's individual and educational development.  Various areas are emphasized as children experience and grow.

18 months to Twos

Curriculum encourages independence and language progression and expression.  Activities also strengthen motor skills, cognitive ability, and fine arts.

Threes

Children learn new skills and concepts in interest centers.  Daily small and large group activities include literature, math, science, and gross motor skill development.

Fours/Preschool

Children explore settings that advance effective communication, problem-solving, creativity, and social skills through active and concrete learning.  Curriculum prepares children to work with others and for their transition to kindergarten.
