CHILD CARE LEAD TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Child Care Lead Teacher is responsible for assisting the Child Care Director in operating the childcare center in a manner that contributes to the growth and development of children.  Also acts as responsible staff in short term absence of director.

 

A.  Responsible to:

·        Child Care Director

 

B.  Principal Duties:

·        Plan and conducts the daily program for a group of children and is a part of the children to staff ratio

·        Assists the director with coordination of childcare program in education, health, and social services to meet the needs of children served

·        Assists with supervision and evaluation of all personnel assigned to the childcare center according to approved personnel practices and policies

·        Assist with development and maintenance of good staff relationships

·        Acts as resource and role model for staff

·        Responsible for maintaining a physical environment that conforms to governmental licensing and project standards of safety and cleanliness and that is conducive to optimal growth and development of children who attend the center and the well being of all involved in the childcare center activities

·        Responsible for the development of plans for day to day activities and schedules, including all aspects of children’s time at the center

·        Takes initiative in researching resources for needed program skills and knowledge of staff and self

·        Responsible for assessment and constant monitoring of the children

·        Attends staff and parent meetings and participates in these meetings

·        Relates to parents of children in the childcare center to plan for activities designed to foster growth and development of each child

·        Performs other duties as assigned by the Child Care Director

TEACHER AIDE

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

The Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting center teaching staff in performance of their duties.

 

A.  Responsible to:

·        Lead/Assigned Teacher

·        Child Care Director

 

B.  Principal Duties:

·        Assists one or more teachers as directed

 

·        Assists in the supervision of play activities as requested by the teacher as follows:

*             Participating with children in group games

*             Enforcing safety rules

*             Intervening when children are likely to injure themselves or each other

*             Remaining with one or more children until relieved by another adult

 

·        Assists in the preparation of supplies and the environment for activities

 

·        Assists in the maintenance of an orderly environment for the group

 

·        Assists in the observation, recording, and reporting of individual child’s behavior as assigned

 

·        Assists children with self-care activities

 

·        Assist in aiding individual children who experience difficulty in the group or who temporarily lose their physical or emotional control

 

·        Assist with meal and snack service
